Closing Out Resurrection Sunday!

Oh Father, it has been a wonderful day. We have celebrated your defeat over death and that your Son is now our Victorious Lord! Simply open our lips, and our mouths will shout our your praises. We know full well that you are not happy with just any sacrifice. Otherwise, I would offer one to you. No, you are not pleased with the simple things. The sacrifice that excites you is a broken spirit. You will never despise a broken and tender heart.

Because we have humbled ourselves and submitted to your governing our lives, you have shown mercy in our lives. Oh LORD, you are our helper, our strength, our hope and the One who sustains our lives. You have turned our sorrows and frustrations into joy and anticipation of even greater things! You have taken away our garments of mourning and clothed us with joy, and given us your Spirit. Thank you, Father, we do love you.

So, blessed be the Yahweh Elohim, the Elohim of Israel, who alone does miracles. We offer our praise to you Glorious Name forever. May the whole earth be filled with your glory. May the God of Israel, who alone does wondrous deeds, be Honored and Praise on the lips of every person who is willing to cry out to you!

As the ancient hymn cries,

“O gladsome light, O grace
of our Creator’s face,
the eternal splendor wearing:
celestial, holy, blest,
our Savior Jesus Christ,
joyful in your appearing.

2 As fades the day’s last light,
we see the lamps of night
our common hymn outpouring;
O God of might unknown,
you, the incarnate Son,
and Spirit blest adoring.

3 To you of right belongs
all praise of holy songs,
O Son of God, Life-giver;
you, therefore, O Most High,
the world does glorify
and shall exalt forever.

Father, it is so much better to rely on you than to put any trust in our flesh. It is so much better to rely on you than to put any trust in our own wisdom and understanding. It is so much better to look for you than to focus on our own abilities and resourcefulness.

As the Psalmist announced:

Like your name, O Elohim,
    your praise reaches to the ends of the earth.
    Your right hand is filled with righteousness.
(Psalm 48:10)

It is indeed better to rely on you than to put any trust in my flesh. It is better to rely on you Lord than to put any trust in rulers! And we stand amazed!

Our Father in heaven:
May your holy name be honored;
may your Kingdom come;
may your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today the food we need.
Forgive us the wrongs we have done,
as we forgive the wrongs that others have done to us.
Do not bring us to hard testing,
but keep us safe from the Evil One

Father you are so gracious to have your blessed Son Jesus Christ come down from heaven to be the true bread which gives life to the world; your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ, triumphed over the powers of death and prepared for us our place in the new Jerusalem: May those of us who have given thanks for his resurrection, praise you in the City of which he is the light, and where he lives and reigns for ever and ever. Give us this bread, that He will live in us, and we in him; He lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen. ~Nickolas Hiemstra, MFMI Affiliate Minister
